Silver Wedding Anniversary
Twenty-five years ago there was a double wedding in the old Second Congregational church on Dwight street, where the Marble block now stands. Here were wedded July 15, 1878, Charles P. Lyman and Miss Jennie E. Judd, William E. Judd and Miss Frances Bowen. This double wedding was celebrated in a delightful manner at the Lyman home on Elm street yesterday afternoon and evening, over 150 calling and paying their respects to the two couples. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman and Mr. and Mrs. Judd received from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 10. The house was tastefully decorated with goldenrod and yellow daisies. Many old memories were revived and long-forgotten incidents recalled. A number of silver tokens were left by their guests. Mrs. Lyman wore the same gown in which she was wedded 25 years ago. There were present Rev. Dr. J. L. R. Trask of this city, who performed the ceremony, and guests from Unionville, Ct., Sunderland, Southampton and Agawam. Refreshments were served and the evening spent in an enjoyably informal manner.
