Business Men Want Trolly Express

The Holyoke street railway company has been petitioned by a large number of business men to act as common carrier for express and baggage on its lines in the city of Holyoke, as provided in chapter 202 of the statutes of 1903. To do this the consent of the board of aldermen will have to be obtained. It is understood that the company is not particularly anxious about the privilege on account of the inconvenience arising from trying to run a freight service between its passenger cars. The matter may be brought before the board of aldermen at a meeting soon. If the plan is taken up in its fullness it will include giving express service between the various suburban points and Holyoke. The signers include many well-known merchants of Holyoke, who will be much benefited by the quick delivery of their goods to customer, which such a service will insure them.
