Coordinator John Ferriter today received word of the approval by the WPA authorities of four more projects totaling $239,279, making the total approvals so far this month nearly half a million dollars. One project is a sewing project, to succeed the present one which runs out in June, calling for the expenditure for $195,703 for 12 months. This is figured to take care of 195 women who make garments to give away to needy persons through the federal surplus commodities corporation. The city’s share of the project is about $40,000. Another project is continuation of work on the new Springdale school that will keep about 171 men busy on double shifts about four months. The city’s share of the expense is figured at $2566 and the total cost of the project is $23,171. Another project is development of Community Field at an estimated cost of $12,900. A baseball field is included and 1500 feet of gravel and tar roadway/ There will be 76 men kept busy on two shifts for two months. A cleaning and renovation project for various public buildings was approved., costing $7504. Some 26 women will be employed for about four months.
