The Gamewell Police Signal System Company will probably be the only bidder on the contract for furnishing the city with the system if the aldermen decide that it is wise to make the expenditure this year. The committee in charge of this matter has consulted the bids that were made by the Gamewell Company in 1892 and will get as low a price per box or station as was offered at that time. The committee will have another meeting in a short time to get more information about the matter. The system will not be complete unless a patrol wagon is provided.
The French people of Holyoke have been approached by a representative of the Dominion government to induce them to return to Canadian places that have been forsaken by the people. He has represented to the people whom he has addressed that the outlook for prosperity for Canada is better than it ever was before.
At the police court yesterday morning Joseph Ross was fined $5 for being drunk and Frank Lescault $10 for a larceny of a lntern from the Young Men’s Christian Association building.
The Forestdale Cemetery Association has elected Henry A. Chase president and Robert B. Johnson secretary and treasurer. The association has a balance of $25,500 in the treasury.
