Again the Perkins Block – Hotel Jess
A couple of people wrote in to tell me about MACRIS, from the Massachusetts Historical Commission, called Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System (MACRIS). I thank you and appreciate the link! More info about that at the end of the post.
Lots of interesting Holyoke photos, many seem to have been taken in the 1970’s.Recently I posted about the Hotel Jess / Perkins Building on Dwight Street and there is a early to mid 1970’s photo of this building, seen above. I am dating it as sometime in the 1970’s judging by the make/model of the parked car. It still has a sign saying Hotel Jess (you will need to click through on the image to see it enlarged) and I am publishing it here with a big thank you to he Mass Historical Commission.Compare this with the photo my husband took of this building within the past year:
I have spent a day searching the MACRIS website without finding anything regarding a Terms of Use document, so I can only assume it is permitted. However I do like to give source credit where credit is due. so, if you have an interest in Holyoke buildings (or structures in other Massachusetts towns) take a look at the following link. It is really easy to lose a few hours on the site!
