Mrs. Loveland was on her way home with <strong>Carleton Farr<\/strong> of 58 Newton Street when she made the jump. She floated downstream instead of sinking and her companion walked along the canal bank side hoping that the swirling current would bring her near enough to shore to grab her.<\/p>\n<p>As Mrs. Loveland neared the Prentiss Wire Mill, half way between Lyman and Dwight Streets, she was carried to the wall of the canal.
