Phillips<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>11 Dec 1927<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Maj. Frank D. Phillips who Was in Cuban Campaign With Co. D, Holyoke, Passes Away at Schenectady<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Holyoke, 10 Dec. &#8212; Word was received in Holyoke last night of the death at Schenectady, NY of Maj. Frank D. Phillips for 30 years a Holyoke resident and prominent in the affairs of Co. D in earlier days.   He went to Cuba with the Co D headed by Maj then Capt W. J. Crosier and with Gen. A. F. Foote then first lieutenant as ranking officers.   He had been ill about two weeks with pneumonia being stricken while visiting his daughter Miss Maude Phillips of Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>Maj. Phillips was born in Maine and came to Holyoke with his parents when young.   He was employed for many years at the Holyoke Machine company where he learned the trade of pattern maker and later of millwright.   A few years ago he accepted the position of superintendent of a plant at Cohoes, N. Y, and later became a General Electric company superintendent.<\/p>\n<p>It was his annual custom to spend Memorial Day with this former comrades at arms in Holyoke.   His wife died about a year ago.   Besides his daughter, Maude, he leaves two sons, Roger and George, both lieutenants in the navy, and a sister in California.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of Nelson A. Miles camp, Spanish War Veterans, and the Mount Tom Lodge of Masons.
