Assessors Will Ask 20,000 of Them Their Ages — Estimated that 8,000 Will Not Answer<\/strong><\/p>\n

“How old are you?” is one of the questions that women voters will have to answer when the assessors make their annual rounds in the spring, Chairman Joseph J. Kelly of the board of assessors said today. This is a new state law, and the assessors are obliged to carry it out ans ask the ages, occupations and residences.<\/p>\n

All females over 30 years old will be listed by the assessors, and the list will be kept separately, it is understood. There will be over 20,000 to care for, so the assessors are not looking for an extended vacation this year.<\/p>\n

Asked what the assessors would do if the women refused to give their age, whether they would estimate it or call for a policeman, Chairman Kelly admitted that he was in doubt. It is estimated by outsiders that out of the 20,000 women, fully 8,000 will refuse to give their age. From appearances, being an assessor is going to be a hazardous task this year.<\/p>\n
