Greaney, Longtime Resident Dies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patrick J. Greaney long-time resident of this city, died suddenly at his home, 21 Lincoln Street, tonight, after a short illness. He was a native of this city and spent many years here. He was a veteran employee of the Gas &amp; Electric Department as a meter reader.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his widow, Mary; one son, Dr. William F. Greaney of Washington D.C.; three daughters, Gertrude, at home; Grace, a teacher in the West Street School, and Mildred, a teacher in the Springdale School, and two grandchildren. Mr. Greaney was a member of division 3 of Hibernians and the Holy Name Society of Holy Cross Church. The funeral will be held in the home Friday morning, followed by a solemn high mass of requiem at Holy Cross Church at 9. Burial will be in St. Jerome Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>05 January 1950<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mrs. Mary E. Greaney<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Mary E. Greaney died this morning in her home, 71 Linden Street, after a short illness. She was the widow of Patrick Greaney.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Greaney was born in Ireland, daughter of the late John and Ellen (Moore) Greaney and came to this city when a young girl and was educated in the local schools. She was a member of the Isabella Court of the Massachusetts Order of Foresters, the National Council of Catholic Women, Holy Cross Chapter, and the Rosary Sodality of Holy Cross Church.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Gertrude E. and Miss Mildred D., a teacher at Highland School, a son, William F. Greaney of Washington, three grandchildren, on great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place at the home Saturday at 9:15, followed by a solemn high mass of requiem in Holy Cross Church at 10.
