Grenfell, About 1910<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Will Speak in High School Hall the 15th and Show Moving Pictures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Holyoke, Dec. 3. &#8212;<\/strong> Dr. Wilfred T. Grenfell, world famous Labrador doctor to the deep sea fishermen, recently knighted by King George of England, will speak in high school hall Thursday evening, the 15th. For a generation Dr. Grenfell has been one of the world&#8217;s heroes in this courageous devotion along the bleak northern coasts.<\/p>\n<p>When Sir. Wilfred, as Dr. Grenfell has now become, went to Labrador in 1892, he found the straggling line of white and half-breed villages along its shores poverty stricken and demoralized. Off its shores were the Newfoundland, Canadian and American cod fishing fleets, for the most part equally poverty-stricken, and often swept by disease. The story of his accomplishments and the ministrations is a remarkable one.
