The police were reached by telephone and the pulmotor was brought by Patrolman Cornelius Curran and Inspector Patrick Gaughan. All efforts to revive the man were fruitless. Dr. P. E. Hurley was also summoned. Medical Examiner Frank A. Woods viewed the body and said that death was caused by an acute attack of heart disease. Mr. Astley had been in ill health since last March, but had been apparently better of late. He had been employed by the American Writing Paper Company for the last 15 years. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church and of Clan McLaren.
