Willard<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Part 4 of a series published in the Boston Journal highlighting some of the big names in Aviation.<\/p>\n<p>Transcription of the image:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who&#8217;s Who in the Air<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Number 4 &#8212; Charles F. Willard<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Resident of New York, but born in Melrose, Mass.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate from automobile circles into those of the air.<\/p>\n<p>Became interested in aeronautics during visit to France five years ago.<\/p>\n<p>First attracted attention of aeronautical world by his cross country flights at Mineola, L. I. last year.<\/p>\n<p>At that time he passed over Garden City, Westbury and Hicksville and effected a landing after a section of the engine in his Curtiss aeroplane had become disabled.<\/p>\n<p>While making a flight at Joplin, Mo., May 31st last, Willard was shot at by some unknown person and the rudder of his machine shattered.<\/p>\n<p>From <em>The Boston Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>September 3, 1910, page 2 Part 4 of a series published in the Boston Journal highlighting some of the big names in Aviation.
