Michael H. Sullivan

Michael H. Sullivan, Well Known in Granville, Westfield and Holyoke Named an Associate Justice of Dorchester Court.

Michael H. Sullivan, a former teacher in the Holyoke High School has been honored by Gov. Draper by an appointment as associate justice of the Dorchester District Court. Judge Sullivan is well-known to Hampden County and his recent advancement is appreciated by his many friends. He was born in Granville September 15, 1874, and after attending the schools of his native town, attended and was graduated from Westfield High School. After teaching in the Granville schools he entered the Westfield normal school and was graduated in 1897 and then accepted a position in the Holyoke High School and at the same time began the study of Law in the office of Addison L. Green, now senior member of the firm of Green & Bennett.

In 1899 he entered Boston University Law school and was graduated after 16 months’ study with a commendable record and was admitted to the bar in 1901. He was associated with the firm of Beale, Hutchins & Beale and then began the practice of law in the office of George B. Bigelow, assuming his practice upon his death, at his present office, 34 School Street, Boston, In June 1903, Mr. Sullivan married Miss Caroline T. Maloney of Hinsdale, who was his classmate in Westfield Normal School. They have two boys and two girls and live at 18 Hewins street, Dorchester. He is a member of Mt. Bowdoin council, Knights of Columbus, and at present grand knight of that council, a director in the Harvard Improvement Association of Dorchester and a member of the Charitable Irish Society and 1st Corps of Cadets of Boston.
