Lost Life Trying to Save Comrade’s
Francis Kennedy, he 13-years-old son of John Kennedy, who lives at the corner of Pine and Lyman streets, lost his life in the Connecticut river yesterday morning about 11 while attempting to save the life of Edward A. Pelissier, 10, who had fallen overboard from a boat hear the shore. His efforts were useless as the Pelissier boy was also drowned, though it is said that there were two or three men on the bank who looked on idly while the boys were drowning. However this may be, the double drowning can only act as a warning against going in swimming in the river without safeguards of the best. The Pelissier boy was the son of Edward A. Pelissier, who lives at 216 Dwight street, and returned home Saturday from a visit to Granby, where his father desired him to stay longer. He was cautioned by his mother in the morning not to go away from the house. Patrick Glaster, who was with the two boys, did not go into the water. Officer Cullen and Detective Bligh went up to he place with grappling irons and recovered the bodies, which were viewed by Medical Examiner Holyoke. The body of the Pelissier boy was taken to Ryan’s undertaking rooms, and the body of the Kennedy boy to O’Donnell’s undertaking rooms.
