Steal $75 Diamond Ring and Sum of Money From Edward Trainer’s Rooms on Chestnut Street.
Burglars entered the tenement of Edward Trainer, who lives in the Cummings block on Chestnut street, Holyoke, last evening, and after thoroughly ransacking the place, got off with considerable valuable booty, including a $75 diamond ring. Twenty dollars were taken from a pocketbook, and a smaller amount from a savings bank. Various smaller articles were also taken, and the thieves were apparently actuated by feelings of resentment against the Trainer family. The bedclothes were torn off from the bed and drawers pulled out and the contents scattered about the room, chairs piled in heaps and everything turned topsy turvy throughout the tenement. Mrs. Trainer returned late in the evening, and promptly went into hysterics at the sight. Another tenement in the same block was also entered and a child’s bank robbed of a little less than $1 in change. Detective Bligh was assigned to the case by the police department.
