Corp Edward Normand USMC, Suffers Third Wound, This Time on Okinawa.
One Holyoker was killed in action in the Pacific area and another was wounded for the third time, according to word received by their families here today. Pfc. Thomas Valenti, 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Valenti, was killed in action on Luzon on May 13, while Marine Corp Edward A Normand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Normand of 97 Jackson street, received a third wound, this time on Okinawa.
Pfc Valenti, who was graduated from the Lawrence junior high school, entered the service in 1943 and went overseas last November as a machine gunner. He had been employed at Springfield Armory before entering the service.
Corp. Normand had been wounded at Tarawa for a second time at Salpan and was wounded in the thigh at Okinawa, where he was serving with the 8th marine division. It is expected that he will be transferred to this country for further hospitalization. He had been employed at the Berkshire Fine Spinning mill prior to his enlistment.
