Nonotuck and Monat Expect Big Crowds as “End” of Depression is Feted
Tonight, the eve of New Year’s eve, saw hotels and dine and dance places making ready for the crowds that are expected to surpass any since the beginning of the depression. Arrangements are being made so that parties from near and far are to be cared for here and given an opportunity to do justice to the occasion.
The outstanding entertainment places in town are all set, the Nonotuck Hotel, Manager Dawson says, will have more reservations than for many years with the bulk of patrons coming from outside the city, a great number from Springfield and Hartford.
Then there is the Avodire, where Johnny Marion’s orchestra will provide dance music and 18 acts of vaudeville will be shown. The Valley Arena gardens will have Tiny Crotty’s orchestra with a floor show.
Toto’s Zeppelin on the Northampton highway will provide a floor show direct from New York city, while the V Cafe and Gleason’s Rathskeller will offer floor shows and general entertainment. Hotel Monat’s Spanish Villa accommodations have been practically sold out.
