Matter Will be Aired at Special Meeting at Westfield Tomorrow Night
Holyoke, Jan. 9 — The plan to develop Barnes Airport, the Holyoke and Westfield flying field, under a CWA grant of approximately $15,000, will be considered at a special meeting of the Barnes airport board of managers to be held at the New Park Square Hotel in Westfield Thursday morning.
The Barnes Airport board of managers, agents of the Holyoke and Westfield Chambers of Commerce, lessees of the airport, hope to quickly clarify the situation so that the CWA workers may be started at once.
The Holyoke Chamber of Commerce representatives on the board of managers are Hugh MNcLean, Robert H. Russell, Otto M. Dreikorn, William H. Hubbard and Joseph Metcalf, 2d. In the event that the CWA grant is accepted by both Holyoke and Westfield it will mean the employment of approximately 50 men from this city over a period of 10 weeks.
Plans will provide for the enlargement of the field, regrading new runways, remodeling of hangar and installation of a complete lighting and beacon system as well as the establishment of a radio signal station.
