Holyoke High School Soccer, 1924

Soccer Team

Arthur Lynch, '24

The High School Soccer team had a very successful season this year, winning eleven of the thirteen games. The team was defeated by Worcester Academy and Springfield College "Frosh." Later in the season the Springfield College "Frosh" suffered their first defeat in three years from Holyoke. The team also defeated Williams College "Frosh" at Williamstown.

This spring the Holyoke High booters were entered in the Western New England Junior League series and as this is written we are preparing for the final game with a team pricked from three Springfield High Schools.

Although Soccer has been poorly supported, the Holyoke High School has turned out teams that have won consistently during the last fourteen or fifteen years.

The team was composed of: Capt. "Pete" Soutiere, "Stewie" Williamson, "Boot" Sullivan, "Sandy" O'Brien, "Tom" LePoer, John Harrington, "Jake" Solin, "Mose" Gordon, "Scotch" Mathieson, John Zielinski, Carl Zielinski, "Clickie" Clark, "Piper" Lynch, and "Clifty" Smith. "Danny" Regan and "Jimmy" Smith acted as coaches.
