Notes:
This contributor is possibly Mrs. George H. (Rachel) Allyn, b. June 1866, Scotland. On the 1900 U.S. Federal Census she is living with her family on Northampton St., Holyoke [Ward 7, ED 552, P147B, Line 95]. She appears with her husband George H. Allyn (b. Feb 1862) and are recorded as being married 14 years, immigration year 1885.

This would have made Rachel a newlywed at the time the cookbook was compiled, perhaps offering an explanation of only one recipe. On the 1900 Census her children are George H., b. 1887; Sarah C., b. 1888; Bertha L., b. 1890; Evelyn C., b. 1892; Stewart R., b. Nov. 1893; Oliver E., b. 1896; Henry D., b. 1898; and Agnes R., b. 1900.

Rachel's mother-in-law, Mrs. Henry D. (Isabella) Allyn, is also a contributer.
