On the 1880 U.S. Federal Census [ED 300, P.13, 161A, Lines 17-20] Edgar C. Backus, age 31, is living at 97 Race Street, Holyoke. Residing with him is his wife Fannie, age 28, b. Vermont, keeping house, as well as his two brothers Irwin C., age 27; and Frank S., age 14 or 19. All males in the household are reported b. in CT and are employed at a thread mill.

Edgar C. shows up on the 1900 Census in Holyoke, recorded as single. Edgar appears on the 1910 Holyoke Census recorded as a widower.

The contributor of these recipes was mostly likely Fannie Backus, m.s. unknown.
