Body found in Holyoke Canal
John Fisher Believed to Have Committed Suicide

What was probably a case of suicide was disclosed with the discovery of the body of John Fisher, 74, in the first level canal near the Linden paper mill in Holyoke early yesterday morning. Mr. Fisher had been living with his son, John Fisher of 4 St. Jerome avenue, and left the house at about 8 Saturday evening for a walk. Nothing has been learned of his movements and he was not seen again until his body was discovered in the canal yesterday morning.

Mr. Fisher had not been employed recently, and that, and his advanced age it is thought, had rendered him despondent and it is suspected his death was die to his own act. The body was viewed by Medical Examiner Frank Holyoke and removed to Alger’s undertaking rooms. He leaves two sons, John and James, and one daughter, Mrs. James Clark, all of Holyoke. The funeral will be held to-morrow afternoon at 3 from his son’s home on St. Jerome avenue. Rev. A. R. Pennell will officiate. Burial will be in Forestdale.
