John W. Rae, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rae, died Saturday morning at his parents’ home, 24 Brown avenue, after several months’ illness. He had been employed at the Skinner silk mills until failing health compelled him to give up work. The funeral will be held this afternoon.

[Note: John W. Rae was the son of Captain Thomas Rae, Jr., who served as Captain of Company D in Holyoke and served in WWI. The Rae family originally came from Scotland and are connected with the Jarves, Calder, Murray, and Malcolm families. The Malcolm line were from Lanarkshire, Scotland and have connections to other Holyoke families including the Jack and Aitken lines.]
