Daughter of Holyoke Minister Marries Pastor of Hartford Church.
Rev. August Brunn, Father of the Bride
Miss Helen Martha Brunn, daughter of Rev. August Brunn, pastor of the German Lutheran church was married at the church at 4 yesterday afternoon to Rev. John Kavasch, pastor of the German Evangelical Lutheran church of Hartford, Ct. The church was filled, many invitations having been issued for the ceremony. The decorations at the church had been planned by the girl friends of the bride, palms and hydrangeas being used and clusters of hydrangeas were fastened to the pews through the center aisle. John Wassell presided at the organ, giving a half hour recital before the arrival of the wedding party.
As the wedding party entered the church the Lohengrin wedding march was played, the choir singing the bridal chorus. The maid of honor was Miss Marie Kavasch of Danbury, Ct. The bridesmaids were Miss Ida Brunn of Chicago and Miss Ernestine Schimmel of Holyoke. The flower bearers were Miss Edna Brunn the bride’s sister and Ernest Kavasch of Danbury, Ct. The ushers were Max Ruckdeschal and Walter Dietz. The procession entered the church, led by the ushers, followed by the bridesmaids with the maid of honor and the flower-bearers preceding the bride and groom. They were met at the altar by the bride’s father and the best man, the bride’s father performing the ceremony, using the double-ring service. During the ceremony the choir sand German hymns and after there was congregational singing.
The bride wore a gown of cream lansdowne with Princess lace trimmings made en train and her toile veil was arranged with a crown of myrtle and she carried roses. The maid of honor wore white lansdowne and carried white asters and the bridesmaids also wore white and carried white asters. The flower girl wore white mull and carried a basked of roses. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the bride’s home which was decorated for the occasion with hydrangeas and palms and a buffet lunch was served. The couple left last evening for a trip to New York state. On the return they will live at 38 Allen place in Hartford, Ct. The wedding gifts were numerous. Among the out of town guests were Rev. and Mrs. H. Willer of Easthampton, Rev. and Mrs. Walter von Schenk of Rockville, Ct. Rev and Mrs. L. A. Liun of Springfield. Rev. and Mrs. Theodore Steege of New Britain, Ct., Rev. and Mrs. Beckman of South Manchester, Ct., Rev. and Mrs. S. F. Glaser of Meriden, Ct., Mrs. and Mrs. J. V. Kavasch of Danbury, Ct. the parents of the groom. The groom is a graduate of the St. Louis theological seminary of Watertown , Wis.
