Announcement is made by Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Schubach of Norwood terrace of the engagement of their daughter Doris Virginia to Ensign Walter R. Noffke, Jr., USNR, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. Noffke of Chestnut street. Miss Schubach and Noffke were the former national figure skating champions until they were unable to compete. They won the national junior pair figure skating championship in 1941 and 1942, 1943 and 1944 won heir senior pair competition.

Miss Schubach attended Holyoke Secretarial college and is private secretary for Maurice Park, vice-president of the Marvellum company. Ensign Noffke was employed at the Holyoke Savings bank until he entered the navy in July 1943. He is now attending the naval supply officer school at Harvard university.

[Note: Doris Schubach has a connection to my family genealogy through a marriage of one of her cousins to someone in my family. In the past, my father would often speak of seeing the Noffke-Schubach team practicing at public skating rinks. Magazine above is in my collection.]
