Peter Gow, 79, of 858 Hampden St., died Monday afternoon. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 30 1888, son of the late Samuel and Jane (Dunlap) Gow and came to this city in 1916. For 23 years he was employed as a stationary fireman by the now defunct Farr Alpaca Co., and from 1936 until retirement in 1953 was employed by the American Tissue Mills, Pearl City division. He was a member of the International Association of Engineers and the Gospel Hall. He leaves one son, James D. Gow of this city; one stepson William Hay of South Hadley Falls, one stepdaughter, Mrs. Edward F. Day of Granby; two sisters, Mrs. A. Miller of Glasgow, and Mrs. A. Parker of Kent Ireland; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Funeral will be at the Edward F. Day funeral home Wednesday at 2. Edward E. Hicks and David J. Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
