Northampton Man Relinquishes Document Bearing Date March 29. 1836.

A deed dated March 29, 1836, deeding to the late Justin Upson ownership of one-half of a pew in the Congregational meeting house and a lot in proportionate share, has been received by Albert Webb of Northampton street from Charles H. Upson of Easthampton. Mr. Upson explained that the deed had been handed through a will to him and as he was 85 and did not wish to hand it down along the line of posterity any longer, he had returned it to the congregational church.

At the time the deed was drawn the Congregational meeting house was part of West Springfield and the document is signed and settled by Nathan Morse, Miles Dickerman, Nathaniel Thorp and Whiting Street. Hervey Chapin is the justice of the peace whose seal is on the deed.

From the Springfield Republican.
