Mrs. Helena Fearing, twenty-eight years old, who keeps a boarding house at 23 Worcester Places, was shot and seriously if not fatally wounded last night by Frank Bernard Paltz. Paltz was captured directly after the shooting, while Mrs. Fearing was taken to a hospital. No reason for the act of Paltz could be learned definitely last night. Mrs. Fearing is a widow and has two small children.
Paltz can talk but little English. He said through an interpreter that he had been very much surprised that the weapon had been discharged. Previously he had been snapping the trigger at the children, supposing the pistol was empty.
