Policeman Who Was Shot Holding His Own, But Wound is Very Serious

Officer M. J. Driscoll

Officer M. J. Driscoll

Patrolman M. J. Driscoll of Holyoke, who was shot by Alfred Garipay early Thursday morning, is still in a critical condition at the House of Providence Hospital, although his condition is rather more encouraging , in that he has held his own well during the last 24 hours. It is yet impossible to move him or do anything toward locating the bullet, as any movement on his pat still causes slight hemorrhages. The physicians are encouraged regarding his condition, although it is yet impossible to foretell the outcome of his injuries. Mr. Driscoll is full of courage and is conscious at all times, and yesterday told his relatives not to worry over his condition as he would be out on his beat again before any long time elapsed. That the officer has hosts of friends is easily known, owing to the many telephone calls asking about him, as well as the many who speak of his worth as an officer and his unfailing attention to his duty.
