The half a dozen prisoners at the police station, gathered in during Saturday night, were taken good care of yesterday and a real turkey dinner served to them by Marshal Wright, who said that he thought a little turkey and roast beef wouldn’t do them any harm. Among the distinguished company were noticed Mary Sullivan, known more generally under the sobriquet of “Shoo Fly, Mary,” who has not been in the station for drunkenness for some time; Mary McKelligott, who is pleasantly termed “the little gray mare” by the officials of the department. Nearly all of the old “rounders” have pet names, some of those with which they have been known since childhood and others bestowed upon them by the police. One man is known by the cheerful title of “Dan, the murderer.” “Strike” Sullivan was in court only a few days ago. “Symposium” Shea emerged to the front in a vain attempt to make political capital a few days ago.
