Jackson Street, Interior, 1940’s

by Laurel | January 6th, 2012

What I love about this photograph, aside from the fact it is my grandfather posing so nicely, is it gives a nice — and probably typical — view of the inside of a Churchill apartment. So if you have ever considered what the inside of an apartment in a block on Jackson and High street may have looked like in the 1940’s this is one example. Love the mohair furniture and vintage wallpaper. My grandparents lived there from the 1920’s until about 1952, and some of the artifacts seen in the image were eventually passed along to me and are now on display here in our current home. This is from my personal family photo archives.
