Excitement in South Holyoke Until Lost Infant is Recovered

There was a rumored kidnapping and much excitement in South Holyoke last evening, which was finally settled by the police recovering a missing infant and restoring it to its mother. It seems that early last evening Mrs. William Fisher of 230 Park Street put her baby in a carriage and took it out for an airing and proceeded to 357 Main Street, where she wheeled the baby into a hallway and left it while she paid a call. About half an hour afterward Mrs. Samuel Lazawoski was going by the place and she heard an infant screaming at the top of its lungs. She investigated, and found the infant and hunted around in that neighborhood to see if she could fine the mother, but was unable to locate anyone, and finally wheeled the infant over to her home at 315 Park Street.

Later the mother started to get her infant, and there was a vacant place in the hallway where the carriage had been left. She decided that the infant had been kidnapped, and notified the police department. Rumors were current that a man had been seen hurrying away with an infant, and trouble reigned supreme for a time. In a little over an hour, the police located the infant at Mrs. Lazawoski’s home and returned it to its mother.
