Thomas Ryan was sent to jail yesterday morning for three months for vagrancy. John Hutchinson, charged with drunkenness, was sent down for one month. Three “drunks” were released.
The tract of land known as “Mountain Park” will be surveyed as soon as the snow gets off the ground. The land will be laid out in building lots and several men have signified their intention of taking lots. It is likely that Charles A. Corser will build a house on one of the lots.
The Springdale Turners dedicated their new pavilion last night with a concert by the Columbia orchestra. Paul Schubach, president of the society, made an address, and Alfred Gogler, a delegate from New Haven spoke in his native tongue. Classes of pupils gave an exhibition on the parallel bars and with Indian clubs. The city government was invited to attend in body.
The city clerk is at work on the records of births in the city for last year and will send a complete copy of the records to the secretary of state. With this work and that of copying the records of deaths and marriages for the same purpose, the clerk has no small amount of copying to do.
