To Woman Maimed Beyond Recognition
Erie, Pennsylvania — Kneeling in an ambulance, the Rev. Lawrence Trembley administered the last rites of his church to a woman, maimed beyond recognition by an automobile.
She died a few minutes later.
And Father Trembley hurried back to St. Joseph’s orphanage, where his mother, Mrs. Joseph Trembley, 56, had visited him recently from Holyoke, Massachusetts.
But Father Trembley waited in vain.
Then a friend called him to the morgue.
Father Trembley looked again upon the victim of the motor car and fell to his knees with a sob:
“Mother!”

Woman Killed on Leaving Trolley
Mrs. Josephine Trembley, 54, of 239 East Dwight Street, was killed by an automobile after she had stepped off a street car in Erie Pennsylvania yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Trembley had been in Erie several weeks and went there to visit her son, Rev. Lawrence H. Trembley. She was to have returned home in a day or so. Father Trembley was graduated from Rosary High School here and ordained to the priesthood last June. He is stationed at St. Joseph’s orphanage at Erie.
For several years Mrs. Trembley had conducted a store on Dwight Street, below city hall, where she did fancy needlework. She leaves her husband, Abe; one son Rev. Lawrence; a brother, Samuel Moren of Michigan, and three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Godin of Holyoke, Mrs. Isaac Laventure of Morrisport, New York, and Mrs Rose Robideau of New York. The body will be brought to this city.
