Report From Granby of His Appearance There Causes
General Disgust Concerning Animal’s Sagacity

While a few are waiting for February 2, when the groundhog is supposed to officially stamp the sort of winter that can be expected for the next few weeks, there are others who claim that the groundhog has put himself in bad by appearing before the time. It was announced last week hat one of these self-same hogs had appeared above the surface of the ground in Granby under the mistaken impression, evidently, that the winter had passed and spring had arrived. Any animal that does not keep better track of the seasons than that makes a poor authority as a weather judge and whether he appears Sunday to look for his shadow or not his decision as to the balance of the season will cut less of a figure than formerly.
