Childs Tosses First Ball

The lawyers defeated the city legislators by 24 – 25. To add color to the event, Alderman Fred Childs, veteran member, tossed out the first ball and former Alderman Lionel Boucher took an unsuccessful clout at the initial pitch. City Solicitor Joseph F. Kelly and James E. Barry, chairman of the Water Board, were umpires.

Clark Lyon hit a home run for the barristers and the fielding play of the game was a catch by Alderman James Farrell in deep center field.

Scully is Re-elected

The game closed the softball season for the lawyers. Following the game Capt. George Scully was re-elected for next season.

Manager Eddie Sacks of the Lawyers was at the microphone announcing the batters and making periodic appeals for contributions to the Jimmy Fund.
