Children playing in the unoccupied tenements of the Germania Block on Park Street, between Jackson and South Canal Streets, are creating a serious hazard, fire officials disclosed Friday evening after extinguishing a fire in a first floor tenement. Doors and windows of the place have been broken and youngsters are suspected of entering the tenement last evening and setting a fire in an old couch. The fire had gained considerable headway throughout the room when the fire apparatus arrived in response to a telephone alarm. Pictured is the ruins of the couch which was tossed onto the sidewalk through a window on the Jackson Street side of the building.
