The canals of the city were minus water water yesterday, the water power company drawing off the water for conversation purposes. With the drawing off the canals gave up shoals of German carp, some weighing as much as 40 pounds. The younger general doffed their shoes and stockings and went after the fish with their hands.
Of late years the Connecticut has been giving up some specimens of the fish, rare for this body of water. The days of the multitudes of shad has disappeared, but each year brings a new species to this area.
