A young boy, one of three brothers who have been, it is alleged, stealing milk and cream bottles from the undefended rear of various houses of the city, was on the carpet in the city marshal’s office yesterday. It developed that the boys were not after the milk or cream, but sold the bottles obtained in this way to buy tickets to go to the “show.” There seems to be quite a lot of petty thieving from time to time in Holyoke for this one purpose. By the side of the “show,” cigarette smoking seems to be insignificant. Joseph Donoghue and John Keough, two boys who were concerned with malicious mischief in the Mannix block, and who have been found to be incorrigible, were sentenced to the Concord reformatory at yesterday’s police court session. Florence Varley, a stubborn child, had her case continued to the 8th; two “drunks” were fined $6 each, and one had his case continued.
