Seventy years in the music business, impressive — would have dated it as opening about 1866.

The John O’Shea Music store founded 70 years ago by the late John O’Shea, has closed its doors. It was one of the oldest music stores in Western Massachusetts.

From The Springfield Republican.

Looks like the building was removed a while ago. I have a copy of the 1952 Holyoke telephone directory and there is no listing for Shirl’s Record Whirl, wonder when that store opened and if it was in the same space.
