The family of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gingras is one of the most highly esteemed French families in the city. Mr. Gingras established his prosperous business of funeral director in 1869 — 52 years ago. Mr. Gingras was married in 1871, his wife being Claudia Menard of St. Cosaire, Canada. The couple have had 18 children of whom six are still living, Charles, Arthur and George, Mrs. Herman Paquette of Willimansett, Sisters Mary de Lourdes and Bernadette de Lourdes of the order of the Presentation.
For a long time Mr. Gingras also ran a successful livery business which the increasing use of the automobile finally compelled him to relinquish.
