Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gingras to Observe Golden Wedding Tomorrow

The Golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Amidee F. Gingras will be observed Monday, February 7, at the home of the couple at 47 High Street. Solemn high mass will be celebrated in honor of the event at the Perpetual Help Church at 9, which will be largely attended by the friends and relatives of the couple. A reception will follow at the home lasting until 11 p.m.

The family of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gingras is one of the most highly esteemed French families in the city. Mr. Gingras established his prosperous business of funeral director in 1869 — 52 years ago. Mr. Gingras was married in 1871, his wife being Claudia Menard of St. Cosaire, Canada. The couple have had 18 children of whom six are still living, Charles, Arthur and George, Mrs. Herman Paquette of Willimansett, Sisters Mary de Lourdes and Bernadette de Lourdes of the order of the Presentation.

For a long time Mr. Gingras also ran a successful livery business which the increasing use of the automobile finally compelled him to relinquish. He was a member of the city government from Ward 4 in 184-5, and from 1899 to 1911 held the position of overseer of the poor, at which time he gave valuable service to the city. He is a member of the St. Jean the Baptist Society and Perpetual Help Church.
