Holyoke Resident 97 Today — Voted for Lincoln and Coolidge

Holyoke, March 17. — Although too weak and ill to receive visitors, there were many who remembered that today was the 97th birthday anniversary of John S. McElwain and sent congratulations and flowers. Mr. McElwain has been confined to the house for several months, his last public appearance being in November when he went to the polls and voted for Calvin Coolidge for president. He is one of the very few left who voted for Abraham Lincoln. Up o within a comparatively short time he took active part in business affairs, especially as director of the City National Bank, where his judgement was highly valued.
