Mrs. Gertrude F. Tebbutts and 57 Coffee House Girls Are Interested in the Game
Mayor John F. Cronin received today, a petition signed by Mrs. Gertrude F. Tebbutts and 57 girls of the Skinner Coffee Hose, requesting that a tennis court be maintained at Springdale Park. Mrs. Tebbutts, in an explanatory letter accompanying the petition, said that the young women had become interested in tennis through playing at camp, and thought there was ample space at the Springdale Park for the courts. She had observed the big public tennis courts in Boston and Fall River and thought that the courts would be a great asset to the girls.
Mayor Cronin is to submit the petition to the park board or playground commission.
