Built 177 Years Ago
Which is to be Moved to a New Site
The famous old Ball house is soon to be moved from its commanding location on Northampton Street to a more humble spot on Cherry Street. The three acre tract of land may be cut up into building lots. It is figured that it will make 25 or so lots with a large reservation for Mr. McAuslan who has sold his present place to Morris Hirsch. The present strongly built barn may be remodeled into a two-family colonial house and faced with brick to make an attractive addition to Northampton street residential property. The fact cannot be escaped however that Northampton street is a trunk line and that sooner or later it is going to be more or less of a business street, especially in the more thickly settled portion.
[Note: From my maps sources, it appears this house was located on land on the corner of Northampton and Beech, and was probably moved to another large parcel of land owned by J. R. Ball on Cherry Street. Anyone have any details on this?]
