29 April 1955 — John Reid, formerly of Chicopee, died suddenly yesterday at his home in Miami, Florida, where he has resided for the past eight years. born in Scotland in 1871, Mr. Reid came to this country as a yound man and settled in Holyoke, before coming to Chicopee. Mr. Reid was well known in Chicopee for his interest and activities in civic affairs. besides his wife, Mrs. Mae (Dacus) Reid, he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Douglas McNeish of Hyannis, Mrs. Ray S. Maxwell of Danbury, Connecticut, and Mrs. Charles I. Bowman and Mrs. Harold A. Rodenhizer, both of Wilbraham; a son Gordon Reid of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and East Otis, and eight grandchildren.

13 February 1942 — Barbara (Galloway) Reid, 71, wife of John Reid of 61 Hilton Street, Chicopee Falls, died today. Born in Scotland, She had lived 40 years in Chicopee Falls. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Gordon J. Reid of Chicopee Falls, five daughters, Mrs. Charles Garfield of Springfield, Mrs. James D. McNeish and Mrs. Arthur Forrest of Chicopee Falls, Mrs. Charles Bowman and Mrs. Harold Rodenhizer of Wilbraham; two brothers, James and Andrew Galloway, both in Scotland; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Sommers in Scotland. The funeral will be held at Byron’s parlors, Springfield, Rev. Dr. John Homer Miller officiating, and will be private. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Holyoke. The body may be seen at Byron’s parlors between 7 and 9 Friday night.
